What is KAGURA?

Among the many character brands of JAPAN DAO, KAGURA is the project that most strongly emphasizes the appeal of Japanese culture.
The background of the project is the story of students belonging to the “Japanese Culture Study Club” of the private Nadeko Gakuen High School, who deepen their learning by experiencing Japanese culture from season to season as they work to “convey Japanese culture to as many people as possible”.
AMATO,” starring a handsome male character, and “KAGURA,” starring a cute female character, play an important role in communicating “Japanese culture” to people in Japan and abroad.

The presale was a great success, not only increasing the number of sales in difficult market conditions, but also ranking in the X (Twitter) trends. Mina Tojo

Born in Fukuoka and currently living in Osaka, she has been working as a freelance illustrator since 2015. She has created illustrations for corporate character Aiki Inazawa, local moe character Sui Kisakura from Yurihonjo City in Akita Prefecture, and Vtuber Ririka Usami. He has designed moe characters for many companies, games, and NFT characters. He has won many awards in character competitions.

He is a professional among professionals with several corporate projects. All of his works are drawn with high skill and are of high quality. The facial expressions and gestures of the characters are instantly captivating and draw out the “moe” in the viewer. He is truly a genius illustrator. In addition to playing a major role in regional promotion through his characters, he also has a deep knowledge of Japanese history and has created compelling and educational works in line with historical facts in KAGURA.

Mukyou

Born in 2002 in Oita Prefecture. Currently a student at Kitakyushu City University. Has 13 years of experience in calligraphy. Winner of numerous awards at national competitions and exhibitions. Has experience performing calligraphy in the United States.
Currently, she is active as a calligrapher “Mukyo” and her published calligraphy art NFT has a total circulation worth of 2.5 million yen and is supported by many fans. He has performed calligraphy both in Japan and abroad, and in 2023, he founded Mukisho LLC.

The soul of Japanese calligraphy, which combines suppleness and strength, is imbued with the spirit of Japan, and its dynamic depictions are full of fun and playfulness. The fusion of calligraphy and art has sublimated into a new realm, attracting and energizing the viewer.
Her bright and cheerful character is loved by all, and we can’t help but cheer her on as she actively pursues her ambitions, such as live-streaming on TikTok and Instagram, communicating on her own space, utilizing AI, and working as a bar manager for a day!

Summary

Looking back on the birth of KAGURA, I have been able to rediscover “Japanese culture” that even Japanese people do not know or have forgotten, and I have a renewed appreciation for the beauty of Japan and Japanese culture.
I can’t help but imagine the day when IP is enhanced and adopted as teaching materials in elementary schools in the near future!
