What is NIJI?
Among the many character brands of ‘JAPAN DAO,’ ‘NIJI’ stands out alongside ‘AMATO’ and ‘KAGURA’ as one of the most popular and central projects. Unlike the other projects that emphasize Japanese culture, ‘NIJI’ has its own unique characteristics and appeal. The concept is about ‘creating a new world where everyone can challenge themselves to do what they love by accepting and recognizing each other,’ and all characters feature seven colors.
This concept is also linked to diversity, which is highly valued in today’s global society and business scenes, making NIJI a work that reflects global trends.
The Birth of NIJI (NFT)
In November 2022, 3,333 generative art pieces were released on the Ethereum blockchain. This was a meticulously planned collection created with the full collaboration of the management and creator teams.
On the day of the sale, about 1,000 pieces remained after Presale 1, and the remaining pieces in Presale 2 were sold out in seconds, marking a sensational debut. Even in the secondary market right after, many overseas users who couldn’t get the whitelist joined in the excitement, pushing the total volume past 100 ETH on the first day.
NIJI ranked first in the domestic NFT rankings, first in global trends, second in OpenSea trends, and was frequently trending on Twitter (X), capturing the NFT scene not only in Japan but worldwide.
The price started at 0.01 ETH and exceeded a floor price of 0.1 ETH, rising to over ten times the mint price at one point. Currently, it is around 0.003 ETH, but with future plans for IP enhancement, especially with animation and app games featuring the ‘Friends’ characters, it is expected to gain recognition from a wider global audience and see its popularity and floor price soar.
Features of NIJI
The impact of the colors in NIJI is striking, with a well-balanced array of vibrant hues that instantly captivate viewers, resulting in pop and stylish works.
Another highlight of NIJI is the ‘Friends,’ a group of colorful and charming characters that enhance the appeal of the works. (Details on the next page)
What is most surprising is the staggering number of parts: 307 hairstyles, 179 outfits, 259 ‘Friends,’ and more, making it almost a one-of-a-kind collection far surpassing many other generative collections.
With fashionable hairstyles, clothing, accessories, and more, NIJI is like an NFT fashion show reflecting diversity! The creators’ exceptional sense of style, rich ideas, and incredible amount of work are evident.
The stunning visuals are also popular as profile pictures (PFPs) on Twitter (X) and Discord, widely used by many JAPAN DAO family members.
Through these works, many users have likely projected a coolness onto their PFPs that is hard to achieve in real life.
About NIJI Friends
The ‘Friends’ are the other protagonists of NIJI. These unique and cute monsters are all depicted in seven different color versions, providing a striking presence beyond just being sidekicks to the main characters.
Their appearance is not only adorable and unique, but each character also has a detailed personality setting, overflowing with emotions and thoughts, making them endearing. The popularity of these characters is evident as users strive to collect all seven colors for each character.
Future plans include games and other initiatives featuring the ‘Friends,’ making their future activities even more exciting!
Names for the ‘Friends’ were decided through several user-participation campaigns on Twitter (X), with the final selection made by the editorial team of the Japan NFT Museum. Special rewards, such as limited NFTs featuring all seven colors, were given to those who named the characters.

Introduction to NIJI Creators
Main Creator: Morry (@Morry369)
While working as an illustrator, Morry started with NFTs in January 2022. The main theme is ’80s retro pop,’ presenting a collection that is nostalgic yet somehow new! Starting with the ’80s Japanese Girl’ collection, which encapsulates the taste of 80s shojo manga, she launched the PFP collection ’80s Romantic’ in February. The 15-piece simultaneous release sold out immediately, becoming the main collection thereafter.
After that, Morry has been actively engaged in various projects, including the ‘MEGUM’ series and collaborations, physical and metaverse event participation. In May 2022, Morry became an official creator of the Japan NFT Museum and has also been working as a creator for the official brand project, NIJI.
From the original collections that all sold out instantly, Morry is a super popular creator. After becoming an official creator of the Japan NFT Museum, she achieved great success with NIJI, her first generative collection as a main creator.
Morry’s talent shines in manipulating colors, ranging from pastel and gentle hues to the vivid colors of NIJI. She is truly a magician of color. The professional skills and expressiveness to depict retro, modern, and futuristic pop are truly astounding!
Morry has also converted the wonderful artworks created by her grandfather into NFTs. Beyond the art itself, the bond that connects generations is truly ‘non-fungible.’ It’s likely that her sense of color comes from her grandfather. It’s truly beautiful.
The playful interactions between Morry and her colleague Okome, also an official creator of the Japan NFT Museum, on Twitter (X) and in Spaces are heartwarming and quite healing. Another charm is her soothing voice, which can be seen as another unique trait.
With a variety of hobbies, such as martial arts and camping, Morry continues to challenge herself on various platforms while honing her skills as a creator. We look forward to her continued success!

Character Designer: Okome (@okometsubu_NFT)
As an official creator of the Japan NFT Museum, Okome is considered the ‘parent’ of the Friends, having drawn the most monsters. The monsters created from Okome’s rich sensibility and creativity are unique and one-of-a-kind, yet somehow nostalgic and familiar, making them irresistibly lovable.
Okome’s genius sense and high technical skills are evident in the meticulous design, beautiful color schemes, and expressive details of each character. Thanks to the fantasy world created by Morry and Okome, the ‘Friends’ have surpassed the role of mere sidekicks and become another protagonist of NIJI.
Okome is known not only for her superb technique in fan art but also for her original illustrations and animations, which are popular across multiple platforms. Her stoicism in balancing motherhood with the pursuit of her craft as a professional is inspiring.
We are excited to see the continued success of Okome, the artisan!

MORIMORI TAKIKOMI GOHAN” is a team of allies of Mr. morry and Ms. Shiromai Omaishi, who released Xmas collection and participated in 2022 NFT Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Singing Contest).
Also, keep an eye on the activities of “Morimori Takikomi Gohan,” the strongest unit of morry, editor-in-chief Taki Sae (@taki_sae), and Shiromai Omaishi, whose merchandise sales at the N Collection were a great success!
Supporting Creators of NIJI
Together with Morry, the creators who support NIJI’s impressive number of parts and bring life to the unique Friends are a powerful team. Their technical prowess is evident, and their diverse and experienced backgrounds enhance the quality of their work, leading to incredible creative synergy.
Led by Editor-in-Chief Sae Taki, the Japan NFT Museum Editorial Team always seems to be having a great time working together, which speaks to the good atmosphere of the team! With excellent teamwork, they will continue to produce great works!
